The fascinating history of Westport House goes back to the 1500s when the famous Pirate Queen of Connaught, Grace O'Malley, built one of her castles here. Just outside of the pretty heritage town of Westport, the current house – built in 1730 has lots of artefacts, artwork and treasures. Learn all about the history of the house through 30 stunning rooms and six permanent exhibitions and don't forget to visit the dark dungeons where Grace O'Malley once kept her prisoners. After soaking up the beautiful interiors, stroll around the impressive gardens and enjoy the riverside walk, Spanish Armada Cannons or the Famine pots.
Wander around the estate with over 15kms of beautiful woodland trails, riverside walks and a fairy trail for the kids too.
